Takeaway pizza joints are using fake cheese and ham

Pizza takeaway restaurants in Derbyshire (UK) have been conning diners by using fake cheese and using turkey instead of ham.

Trading standards officers found that an incredible two thirds of ham and cheese pizzas failed to contain either ham or cheese.

The takeaway pizza restaurants could now face prosecution under the Food Safety Act for not labelling their products correctly.

Out of 15 eateries, eight used a cheese substitute made from vegetable milk instead of dairy milk. And five takeaways also used turkey instead of ham.

The officers also found very high levels of salt in the pizzas which could be a health risk to customers. Sadly, high salt level is common in most takeaway pizzas and without clear labelling it can be extremely dangerous – especially to people with allergies or other health conditions.
