Dad sets up a YouTube channel to speak to his kids

If you can't beat them, join them.

A dad-of-five was so fed-up with his children always staring at their tablets that he decided to set up his own YouTube channel to speak to them.

43-year-old Justin Smith set up his channel called Joe Daddyutube so that his kids would watch him instead of "mindless c**p".

Justin is a sales manager in the food industry and he's often travelling around the country or the world for his job.  So he thought the channel will also be a great idea for his children to see what he’s up to.

In his first video he says:

"The reason I have set this up is because I am absolutely 'sick to death' of seeing my kids constantly with their heads down on their phones. So if this is the only way I'm going to be able to communicate with them, that's the way it's going to be.

I've got five gorgeous kids. I was just a bit upset this morning. I got up, I came down and I want to talk to my two beautiful daughters and their heads are on the phone, with it down like that, with their headphones on watching YouTube.

I just thought to myself well if you can't beat them, join them so I had a really good suggestion from an old school friend of mine and she just said "why don't you just start a YouTube channel", so I am.

Joe's uploaded three videos to his youtube channel so far and he is planning on making more soon.

Luckily my parents don't know how to start a channel or make a video so I won't jhave to go through this. But who knows, this could be the future of parent-children relationships – so soon your parents could be the new YouTube stars.
