Plane loses communication on flight from Myeik to Yangon
A plane carrying 116 people has gone missing in Burma, it has been confirmed.
According to the office of the army chief and an airport source Burma (myanmar) military plane went missing on wednesday between the southern city of Myeik and Yangon,
General Myat Min Oo said the Chinese-made Y-8F-200 aircraft was carrying 11 crew and 105 pasengers consider as the family members of military men and women when it took off.
The commander-in-chief's office said in a statement. "Communication was lost suddenly at about 1:35 pm (07:05 GMT) when it reached about 20 miles west of Dawei town,"
Four ships and two air force planes have been sent to search for the plane, which was flying over the Andaman Sea when it went missing, the statement added.
There are reports the plane has crashed into the sea but these are unconfirmed.
The airport source told AFP "We think it was a technical failure. Weather is fine there,"
